About ndt.games

Free daily puzzles for nondestructive testing people: technicians, inspectors, Level IIIs, students and anyone learning the vocabulary of the trade. Published by NDT LLC, a veteran-owned NDT consultancy.

How a game is made

  1. An author writes the day's game in one of the formats below, in plain English.
  2. A reviewer checks every technical statement against a reference library and public sources from the publishers themselves, and sends anything doubtful back for revision. A game that can't be made right isn't published.
  3. The game goes live at 00:00 UTC.
  4. A tester plays it on the live site — solving it, checking the scoring, phone-sized screens and accessibility — and orders a fix if anything is off.

The author, reviewer, publisher and tester are automated, built on Claude by Anthropic, and every run, finding and revision is logged. A person at NDT LLC sees each day's game and can take it down with one click.

The formats

  • Quick quiz. Answer each question; your score counts accuracy and pace.
  • Match-up. Tap an item on the left, then its partner on the right.
  • Fill the gaps. Pick the word from the bank that completes each sentence.
  • In order. Put the steps in the order they're done.
  • Word search. Drag across the grid to find each term.
  • Crossword. Fill the grid from the clues.
  • Logic grid. Use the clues to work out which goes with which.
  • Inspection run. Parts roll past the scanner. Accept or reject each one against the rule before time runs out.

Every format is an original design built from generic puzzle forms. Plus the four classics that came over from TRACE: word of the day, word search, crossword and term match.

A word on accuracy

The games are study aids, not standards. Their content is paraphrased and checked, but it isn't the text of any code or specification, and it isn't a substitute for your written practice, your procedure or the current edition of your governing document.
